Andy Lazris, MD, a primary care geriatric physician with twenty-five years of experience, is passionate about reforming US health care policy to provide the most beneficial medical care to elderly Americans. Graduating with honors in history from Brown University, he went on to attend medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and serve his residency at the University of Virginia. He founded and now is medical director of a geriatric medical practice, Personal Physician Care. Married with three children, Dr. Lazris has previously published two novels and recently published two books about health care. Curing Medicare was self-published and received critical acclaim; it will be published by Cornell University Press in 2016. Interpreting Health Risks and Benefits: A Practical Guide to Facilitate Doctor and Patient Communication, co-written with Erik Rifkin, was published by Springer in 2014, and evaluates many common medical interventions through benefit-risk characterization theaters that facilitate shared decision making. Dr. Lazris has a particular interest in dementia care and treatment.
