The Macintosh

This page is dedicated to my favorite computer, the Apple Macintosh. Easy to learn AND use, the Mac has survived quite well despite many people saying it's about to die. Introduced in January, 1984, the Mac quickly gained a cult following that lasts to this day. The Mac only has 10% of the home computer market, yet it survives. The beauty of the Mac is it's customizability, and it's easy Graphic User Interface (GUI).

The Mac's influence can be seen on every other computer format there is. Soon after the Mac's premiere, Windows for IBM compatibles came out. Despite the obvious copying of the Mac's Graphic User Interface, Microsoft won a 10 year court battle.

First there was the toaster look, the classic looking Mac. Other Macs have come out, some rather bulky and not all in one like the first Macs, but they are still Macs.

With the introduction of the iMac on May 5, 1998, Apple has come out of the red to become a fierce competitor. The G3 processor along with the new ice look started by the iMac has made the Macintosh popular again, as well as sending PC people scrambling to beat it. Now the G4 has come out, delivering even more speed and capabilities, beating out the Pentium III. Just so you know, the Macintosh is immune to the Year 2000 Problem that plagues the PC world . Check out Apples Year 2000 to find out why!

I'll leave the keeping of FTP sites to others, but I will provide links to what I think are the better Mac sites.
