I am the Sectional Chairman for Section 62 of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. This means that I am responsible for making sure that the chapters in southwestern Pennsylvania file their paperwork in a timely manner and follow the rules of the National Frater nity.

I pledged Lambda Omega Chapter at California University of Pennsylvania during Spring '95. After a few interesting events, I was (finally) initiated. I served the chapter as Treasurer, Inter-Chapter Liaison and the ever popular Sergeant at Arms.

Somewhere between the Spring '97 and Fall of '97, Tom Strong convinced me that I did indeed want to be a part of the Section 62 staff. I started out as a Section Representative to Alpha Beta Sigma Chapter at Robert Morris College and from there had more responsibilities added. For a time, I served as the Membership and Extension Chairman and was among those responsible for making sure that Alpha Delta Omega Chapter at St. Vincent College was chartered on time :)

At the Spring '98 Section Conference a committee was set up to look into the possibilty of splitting Section 62. The committee met during the summer and determined that it would not be in the Section's best interest to split. However, the suggestion was made that the Sectional Chairman should appoint two Sectional Vice-Chairmen to help relieve some of the burden from the Section Chairman. Trevor Schadt and I decided that we would be willing to help Tom with the running of the section even more than we already were :)

At some point during Tom's final term, he decided that he would prefer to not run for a fourth term. This was not an easy decision for him to make since not running would mean that he would be turning the Section over to someone else.

After much deliberation, I decided to run for Section Chair. Having been a Vice-Chair and having worked with Tom for two years, I knew that the responsibilities of the position were great, the pay was non-exsitant and that considerable time, energy and money would be required :)
