About The Campaign

Past:

Back in late August of 1998, I began spending a considerable amount of time at TMBG.com's chatroom (note: discussions that occur in this room may not be suitable for all audiences). During the whole Clinton/Lewinsky "scandal", all of the folks from the chat room were making president jokes and suggesting better presidential candidates than what we already had. I suggested what seemed like the obvious choice to me, "John/John in 2000!". The response was favorable. Someone said, "Yeah! JJ2K!"

While, undoubtedly, most of the folks there forgot about that joke in a matter of hours, I was looking for a way to avoid responsibility (as usual). Thus, the JJ2K website was founded. It began with just a few cheesy graphics (I had poor graphic software at the time and, frankly, didn't know what I was doing), a 'vote for the new national anthem' poll, and a list of silly campaign slogans submitted mostly by TMBG chat regulars.

It was not long before I let the site fall stagnant, partly because I stopped visiting the chat room frequently, and also because while I love designing new sites, I hate updating existing ones. It's quite a shame I stopped when I did, because the 2000 election should have offered a lot of good material. I tried to ressurect the site shortly after the 2000 election, but was always either too busy, or too unmotivated to work on it. So it had maybe one more day in the spotlight and fell silent again.

Present:

Well, after not being updated in over a year, I'm trying again. I think it's been long enough that I will enjoy working on it again. I'm taking submissions again for slogans, poll ideas, fan art, downloads, etc. It's basically the same old site with better graphics and some new content.

Future:

What do I look like? A freakin' psychic?

Seriously, though. I don't know if this time will be any different from last time. Hopefully, I and some other TMBG fans can get some fun out of this site before it dies again. The success of this site really hangs mostly on fan submissions. That was sort of the idea in the first place. Just a fun fansite. I like fun.
