Confession: This is a collection of some of my favorite dark stories, the ones I read when I want to cry, or frighten myself, or tie my stomach into knots--or laugh low in my throat. This is mostly a fanfiction recs page, but there are occasional bits of original fiction scattered in. Enjoy the stories. I know I have. Rating System:
July 2004Executioner's Promise, by Becky Hoadley. Harry Potter. Snape and Lupin, trapped together, and I see a bad moon rising.... Cafe noir. Before It Grows, by victoria p. Harry Potter. I actually don't know what to say about this one, other than that it's interesting and I like it. It's second-person, and it rambles around and comes back and rambles around and comes back, all in a very short piece. Cafe au lait. Defence Against the Dark Arts, by Kay Taylor. Harry Potter. Creeeeeeeeeeeeeepy. What if one could raise the dead? Espresso. January 2004Playground, by MacGeorge. Highlander. From the Bystander zine, now available on the web, art included. Some of the stories in the zine don't make you re-evaluate the art, don't change the focus; some of them let you pick out the fannish characters in the art and make them the most prominent thing. This is not one of those stories. Cafe noir. Recommendation Archives:
