As long as you're selling something!

Okay. I last posted about the controversy caused by a commercial made by The United Church of Christ. This commercial is not being shown on major networks because it is "too controversial." However, I haven't heard of any controversy about this ad. I would say that this even offended me (although it took me about 30 seconds to get over it and start laughing).

So Happy Christmahanukwanzaka to you!!!

to the defence of the ad, i have never seen that version of the commercial, only a much shorter version of it, maybe they shortened it for TV?

Yes, I've seen the shortened version before too. I don't know if they did that to avoid offending the Scientologists or what. I've heard that they can be lawsuit happy (but I would like to stress that I have had no personal experience with that...)

I've seen it shown on TV with the Scientology jab in it. I've noticed in the TV version that I've seen, they cut out "and pagans too!" and instead of the kid on the crutches coughing and falling over, he says "This is going to be the best Chrismahanukwanzakah ever!"

I find it hard to believe that they cut it to make it less offensive, because it really doesn't make it any less offensive. Then again, the TV version doesn't seem shorter, either.

Note: I've only actually seen the ad on cable. I don't know if the networks have a different version or not.
