Several folks recently expressed interest in details of the Vulcan trucks in used on the East Broad Top Railroad. Here is some data I've accumulated on them.

Brakes
Most trucks have a bracket bolted onto the top of the sideframe, from which
the brakes are hung. However, on some of the later trucks (typically with
build dates in the 1920's, and more common on flatcars) their is a pin through
the sideframe, with the bakes connected to the pin. Both of these photos are
taken looking toward the truck bolster, with the brake shoe attached to the
brake beam, the brake shoe suspended from the sideframe (by either attechment
method) and the brake beam connected to the bolster by a loose chain.
