Many thanks go to all the folks who have kept the EBT preserved and running. They've done a lot of hard work for a long time and, rarely paralleled, they trust the rest of us to wander around responsibly and experience it.

As many of the newer photos chronicle restoration work by the FEBT in Rockhill Furnace, I'd like to thank the EBT for the opportunity to contribute in this direct way to the preservation of the railroad and for their trust in us to do the work well and safely. I'd also like to thank the members of the Rockhill Trolley Musuem for their encouragement, guidance, and support. It would be more like labor and less like fun without them. Finally, thanks to all the FEBT volunteers, with whom it has been a pleasure to spend so many weekends. These are my sentiments, and are not meant to be an official position of any organization. Much has been done, but it is a small fraction of what needs done. More volunteers lets us complete projects faster and work on more projects simultaneously. Each new person shortens a structure's waiting time for repair, and that can make the difference between it being there for years to come, or being preserved only in photos.

Who says bigger is always better??

For More Information on the Unique and Invaluable EBT

The East Broad Top Railroad runs 3 trains behind one steam engine on Saturdays and Sundays, June through October. On Columbus Day weekend in October, the railroad holds its Fall Spectacular, running non-stop trains behind all available locomotives and special trips by the historic, home-built M-1 gas-electric car.

Chris Coleman's Unofficial EBT Homepage is an excellent on-line reference, with all manner of factual, historical, and bibliographic information about the EBT.

Vagel Keller's Industrial Heritage Homepage also has very good information about the history of the region of which the EBT was an integral part.

Finally, I encourage you to stop by the Friends of the East Broad Top, a nonprofit, tax-exempt educational and historical society, founded in 1982, dedicated to preserving and restoring the East Broad Top Railroad. If you would like to help us restore the railroad, whether in Rockhill Furnace or Robertsdale, please visit the FEBT website.
