This was a special FEBT work session, but special only in scheduling. The EBT station in Saltillo, PA had been in decline for years. Temporary stabilization kept the building standing long enough be assessed and documented to the HABS standard. But in the end, only samples and architectural details could be saved.
Ticket Window [2004nov20,ticket1]

Removing details from the office/waiting room divider.
Ticket Window [2004nov20,ticket2]
600x406 (53k) -
1200x812 (136k)
Removing details from the office/waiting room divider.
Station Office [2004nov20,office]
600x409 (53k) -
1200x818 (155k)
Removing details from the office. The building actually looks better in these
photos than it was. The bay window has no floor, nor ceiling, nor roof, and to
the right of the image the floor drops 2 feet into the crawlspace.
Waiting Room [2004nov20,waitingroom]
600x404 (56k) -
1200x808 (163k)
The waiting room floor has both buckled *and* fallen into the crawlspace. The
back wall can't decide whether to follow the floor down, or kick out and lie down.
The place where some of the interior samples were removed is visible at center.
[2004nov20,crew]
600x407 (59k) -
1200x814 (175k)
The volunteer crew for the unpleasant job.
Track View [2004nov20,standard]
600x407 (53k) -
1200x813 (162k)
A last look from my usual vantage point on the main.
[2004nov20,back]
600x408 (40k) -
1200x815 (125k)
The weary back side.
[2004nov20,somber]
600x408 (42k) -
1200x815 (137k)
Sigh.
