East Broad Top Pictorial 2004

FEBT Work Session, November 20, 2004

These photos are presented in roughly chronological order. Person and vehicle identifications are always in the order from left to right. All photos taken with a Canon Eos RebelXS camera with either a Tamron 28-80mm lens or a Canon 75-300mm lens. Film is Kodak Max 400. All photos in this section copyright 2004 by William Adams.

This was a special FEBT work session, but special only in scheduling. The EBT station in Saltillo, PA had been in decline for years. Temporary stabilization kept the building standing long enough be assessed and documented to the HABS standard. But in the end, only samples and architectural details could be saved.

Removing details from the office. The building actually looks better in these photos than it was. The bay window has no floor, nor ceiling, nor roof, and to the right of the image the floor drops 2 feet into the crawlspace.

The waiting room floor has both buckled *and* fallen into the crawlspace. The back wall can't decide whether to follow the floor down, or kick out and lie down. The place where some of the interior samples were removed is visible at center.
