East Broad Top Pictorial 2004

FEBT Rockhill Restoration, July 10-11, 2004

These photos are presented in roughly chronological order. Person and vehicle identifications are always in the order from left to right. All photos taken with a Canon Eos RebelXS camera with either a Tamron 28-80mm lens or a Canon 75-300mm lens. Film is Kodak Gold 200 or Max 400. This was an FEBT work weekend in Rockhill.

Masonry repairs completed, work begins on replacing the rotted wood beams above.

Inside the boiler house. The larger timber bracing at right is from the US Park Service in the early 1990's. FEBT installed the bracing, temporary header, and the rafter sisters toward the left. As repairs are made to the wall, these braces will be removed.

It's starting to look like a caboose again! The sheathing is complete, the facia and subfacia are on, the windows are trimmed (outside) and the cupola has gotten the first of several repairs. Here the new insulated stovepipe passthough is installed in the roof.

Another round of work on track 3 gets underway, installation of even more ties to allow operation of steam locomotives over it.
