EBT #16 [2000oct8,161] 600x414 (50k) - 1200x827 (179k)
This year the EBT pulled non-operating #16 from the roundhouse, the first time in nearly a decade. Not only did they put it on display, but they went to the trouble of reattaching the fiddly bits, rehabilitating the headlight and providing power for it, and retrofitting a compressed air system to power the whistle for the annual salute.

EBT #16 [2000oct8,162] 600x414 (55k) - 1200x827 (171k)
Another view of #16. I'd like to thank Matt Stolzenfels for his help and instruction with these outdoor night shots.

Salute [2000oct8,salute3] 600x404 (69k) - 1200x807 (187k)
The impromptu photo line to capture the 4 Mikes on film. I don't recommend climbing on the cars, they are not modified for use by preoccupied spectators.

Flywheel [2000oct8,flywheel] 330x480 (52k) - 618x900 (126k)
The main flywheel in the shops with slipped drive belt. The brick to the left is the boiler housing, and the stationary engine is surrounded by the cribbing at right.

Floor Jacks [2000oct8,shopint4] 600x413 (48k) - 1200x826 (145k)
An array of floor jacks. It looks as if these would lift a bit more than the one in your car trunk. In the background is a manual sheet metal roller, a brake and a powered roller.

Shop Complex [2000oct8,shopint5] 600x411 (45k) - 1200x821 (138k)
This is a small add-on to the machine shop. The raised portion of the floor is actually the right level, the sides having been undercut and sunk.

Machine Shop [2000oct8,shopint6] 600x408 (55k) - 1200x815 (147k)
Miscellaneous tools and parts in the machine shop.

#16 [2000oct8,16driver1] 600x405 (43k) - 1200x810 (119k)
For the first time in several years, the EBT brought out #16. This is the third drive wheel, engineer's side, seen from the rear. It is a 'blind' driver, that is, is has no flange. The depression in the center of the tire is a result of wear against the rail.

#16 [2000oct8,16driver2] 600x405 (50k) - 1200x809 (128k)
This is the fireman's side of #16's running gear. The foreground wheel is the drive wheel nearest the cab, it is a normal flanged driver.

Ash Pit [2000oct8,ashes] 600x406 (48k)
The less-than-glamourous but necessary emptying of the ash pit. Imagine doing this before power equipment.

Saltillo station still stands.
