Participants [2000feb19,fence]
600x407 (48k)
Here we are in Three Springs, lined up for the event photo.
Morning Service [2000feb19,station]
600x411 (51k) -
1200x821 (135k)
Kind of quiet at the station, though at one point someone did go in and
fire up the stove, bringing the chimney to life.
Shops [2000feb19,shops]
600x410 (42k) -
1200x820 (106k)
It's cold in the shops, too.
Fairview Church bridge [2000feb19,fairview]
600x405 (83k) -
1200x810 (235k)
This used to be an automobile bridge over the EBT at Fairview Church.
The road on either side still exists, but with a short detour onto
Fairview Church Rd in order to use its at-grade crossing several dozen
yards to the south.
Mt. Union Connecting [2000feb19,mtu1]
600x405 (47k)
The EBT may not be running, but the Mt. Union Connecting RR is, albeit
only a hi-rail. After the streets were plowed, all of the crossings
had to have their flangeways cleared.
Mt. Union Enginehouse [2000feb19,mtu2]
600x408 (79k) -
1200x815 (250k)
The enginehouse sports its new coat of paint, courtesy of the
Mt. Union Connecting RR which uses it as an office and eventually as
an enginehouse.
Joller [2000feb19,joller1]
600x409 (37k) -
1200x818 (101k)
This view of Joller is from near the mule barn remains looking east.
The nearer cluster of trees to the left is the location of the upper
mine tipple, which was serverd by the upper grade seen winding through
the forest towards it on a large fill. The small cone of debris at the
right of the image is in the general location of the tipple for the
lower mine. It may have been formed by dumping boney off the far end of
the tipple. The grade to it can be seen heading towards photo center,
into the forest.
Joller Lower Grade [2000feb19,joller2]
600x408 (81k) -
1200x815 (217k)
This photo is taken from the spot where the lower grade disappears into
the forest in the above photo. This sizable cut on the lower Joller grade
is just below the hairpin turn in rt994.
Sideling Hill [2000feb19,sideling]
600x396 (55k) -
1200x792 (158k)
This is a view of Sideling Hill tunnel as seen from the Coles Valley Branch
grade. Rt994 is the obvious dark gash, and the EBT's main is visible
in the center, crossing the large fill just south of the tunnel. Although
obstructed by trees, the portal is the darker area directly below the
crest of rt994 over the mountain. Although it is grey in the mountains in
the winter, this photo is in black & white.
Mine Opening [2000feb19,mine]
600x397 (66k)
An apparent mine opening trackside on Rocky Ridge. Unknown mine, or what
the purpose of the opening is. It dead ends at about 15 feet in a pool of
water.
