#5 Mine [98sum,mine5] 600x394 (100k)
The entrance to mine #5 (aka "slope") at Robertsdale. Except for some erosion and the fill (shown) where the ATV trail crosses (and of course lots of trees), the slope and retaining walls are intact for the above-ground length.

#14 Takes on Water [98sum,14water] 600x393 (78k) - 1200x786 (214k)
After the second run of the day, the crew fills #14's tender at the standpipe by the coal dock. A screen inside the tender hatch keeps out large debris.

These sheds are across the tracks from the coal dock in the Rockhill yard.

Shed interior [98sum,shedint2] 600x297 (40k)
This is the interior of the southern shed across from the coal dock (the shed pictured at left in the photo above). It is a composite of two photos.

Shed interior 600x343 (62k) - 1200x686 (184k)
This is the interior of the northern shed across from the coal dock (the shed pictured at right in the photo above). It is a composite of three photos. Notice that there is no framing, the board and batten walls are the only support for the roof. At back left is the base of the brick chimney and in the foreground are two hand drills for boring bolt holes into the rail webbing. Running across the floor are two wooden rails, presumably for storing MOW carts and the like.

#12's tender [98sum,12tender] 600x358 (51k)
#12's tender developed a leak over the winter. Here it is getting a new steel sheet installed on the bottom rear of the tank. The new portion runs from side to side, from the coal bunker to the rear of the tank.

Smokejack damage [98sum,smokejack] 400x361 (21k)
A fire consumed this smokejack on the roundhouse in early summer. It is currently being repaired.

Mt Union crossing [98sum,522cross] 600x395 (60k)
The 522 bypass of Mt Union will take 522 across the yard lead south of of the yard and along the opposite side. Since the bypass is being built in part with federal funds, the EBT's landmark status requires its preservation. This means a modern, dual-gauge grade crossing.

Mt Union crossing [98sum,522closeup] 600x408 (78k)
The existing EBT 100lb rail was not used in the new crossing but replaced with 132lb rail. This is a closeup of the joint between the two rail types.
