This is all potentially subject to change, but I'm going to work from this.
- Minimum mainline/passing siding radius is 18".
- Minimum radius for branchline tracks and other sidings is 12".
- Minimum distance between parallel tracks is 1 1/2" (Straight tracks in industrial areas may be only 1 1/4" apart)
- Minimum clearance from walls and other permanent fixtures is 1 1/2".
- Any curves should have spiraled easement curves leading into and out from the radius.
- All vertical curves will be spiralled (parabolically) or use the natural flex of the subbase.
- Minimum turnout frog angle from the mainline is #8.
- Minimum turnout for crossovers is #10.
- Minimum turnout for yards, branchline tracks and spurs is #6.
- Mainline trackage shall be code 55.
- Branchline/siding trackage shall be code 40.
Commentary: 18" radius, rather than 24", after some thought and experimentation.
Code 40 is going to require low profile wheelsets.
TrainWorx will machine wheelsets.
Is it going to be realistic enough to go with (heavyish) code 55 rail even on main trackage? Find a program chart...
